Enterprise Mobility Strategy as a Service: Bye Bye Point Solutions

What does it take to be an EMSaS provider?

The definition of enterprise mobility has constantly morphed over the last couple of years. Today, it’s about providing ‘end-to-end’ consulting. It’s putting the entire puzzle together and not just one piece. It’s about offering pre-built solutions tweaked for custom needs. Solutions such e-wallets, POS solutions, shopping cards, visual searches, virtual app stores, QR code payments are some of the most  popular out-of-the-box solutions.  It’s about scaling through the entire lifecycle of services with speed to market. So the importance of these solutions cannot be stressed.  People want to go mobile and they want to go fast. They want to ensure that their investments bring high ROI and less hand-holding.

The mobile challenges continue to exist

Mobile services are now a significant part of the service delivery matrix – new devices, new platforms and new demands. So apart from the challenges of the traditional applications — data management, storage and social — there is a need to run these applications on a zillion devices and OSes.  There is zero room for error. So every enterprise service provider has ‘mobility’ in their service chart some specializing in just one domain and some providing a 360 breadth with design, development, deployment and support.

Key Attribute 1: Application design

The traditional principles of good UI for an application still hold strong.  Now add touch screen, a zillion and one devices, a dozen platforms, high-end cameras and the list goes on.

Key Attribute2: Domain knowledge

As you would have heard, it is not just about creating a mobile application anymore. It is about strategizing the process and support the entire application ecosystem with proven processes and industry insight. Retail firms are not just looking at creating a mobile app for their store but want an overall strategy to channel effective sales from in-store experience. Same holds good for any organization across any vertical.

Key Attribute3: End-to-end service offerings

Customers as I mentioned want the whole length, breadth and depth, not point solutions. It is about offloading everything from design to enhancements and support.  Mobility strategy is now a connected part of the larger IT strategy.
